The Spider
When we introduced the EMC1 CD player we stated that the CD player has the same mechanical problems as a turntable. It is vulnerable for disturbances like low frequency and warp.
The reason for this is found in overloading the "correction network".
To prevent this from overloading, the CD player must be correctly damped and the CD disk can not have any type of side ways movement.
The warps are all caused by imperfect production of the record.
A record clamp that merely holds the record down is not enough, it must also center the record on the spindle.
The Spider will do all of the above.
With the Spider there is a "center tap" that must replace the old tap to make the CD center perfectly.
